This cottage was originally built by Joseph Pocklington some time after he purchased the land in 1798, primarily for the purpose of having a lady resident guide of the boulder. The cottage sits next to the old road (now a gravel path) between [[Grange]] and [[Rosthwaite]] next to the B5289, south of [[Keswick]] and [[Derwentwater]]. Access is via the National Trust car park and a gravel path. Today, the building serves as a bothy for a rock climbing club.
