More actions
There are plenty of ways to help out. This project needs photos from every place of interest in the Lake District: fells, lakes, tarns, villages, natural features, visitor attractions, parks etc. Photos are welcome from any time of year from any type of camera, even those on mobile phones with high resolutions.
Getting started with our "how to" guides
Anyone is welcome to edit and help improve the articles here on the English Lakes wiki. You will first need to create an account to allow for editing priviledges, after which any contributions you make will be immediately available for all readers. We use two methods of editing: the simpler VisualEditor, and the original source mode editor for those more comfortable using the classic wikitext style of editing. For most users new to wiki editing, the VisualEditor will be a good starting point.
There are plenty of articles still to write. Have a look at this list of wanted pages. Red links mean the page or category doesn't exist yet.
If you have any knowledge about these places or are interested helping out around here, check out the following guides to get started. We are not a formal encyclopaedia; we like a bit of informality in our writing.
Detailed help guide
The Mediawiki software is diverse and capable of doing many things. For most editing needs, the above guides will take care of the most-used tools. However, for those who require a little more detailed instruction, Mediawiki offers a more comprehensive set of guides for every aspect of editing, and beyond. This can be see at Help:Contents (external site).
