Summary

Description View of the Bowderstone Cottage at the site of the Bowder Stone. This cottage was originally built by Joseph Pocklington some time after he purchased the land in 1798, primarily for the purpose of having a lady resident guide of the boulder. The cottage sits next to the old road (now a gravel path) between Grange and Rosthwaite next to the B5289, south of Keswick and Derwentwater. Access is via the National Trust car park and a gravel path. Today, the building serves as a bothy for a rock climbing club.
