File:Derwentwater from Brandlehow Park (2358).jpeg

File on The English Lakes

Original file(2,560 × 1,440 pixels, file size: 7.23 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

This view is from Brandlehow Park looking towards Keswick, Derwent Island, Lonscale Fell and Blencathra. The paths in Brandlehow are fairly well maintained and easy to follow. Nothing is too strenuous here but there are some gentle ascents if you want to get high enough for the wide open vistas across Derwentwater.

There are two main paths, one that climbs to a higher level and the lower path that hugs the water's edge along Withesike Bay. Towards the end of Brandlehow Park there is another landing stage for the ferry at Victoria Bay. Some trees have fallen down, probably as a result of storm damage but they seem to be, for the most part, clear of the paths.

In this photo the trees come to an end and the views open up across grazing land. The lower path can be seen and from here it is easy to drop down to that path or stay on the upper one for a while longer until the two paths converge at the Cumbria Outdoors centre.
