The majestic Derwentwater with fine views of the surrounding fells, including Walla Crag (376m) centre-left. This photo was taken from the well-known and much-walked Friar's Crag. This little promontory sticks out just enough to command superb views across the lake and on clear days will furnish the viewer with incredible reflections from the fells.
There is a curved bench here to enjoy the views and take a moment to appreciate just how beautiful the scenery is here. Even on grey days when the weather is unpredictable, the ever-changing light and cloud cover can change the view dramatically.
The path here loops back on itself and takes a south-easterly direction to come upon an expansive slate/shingle beach leading towards Strandshag Bay and views across to Lord's island.
