Dry stone walls at Little Langdale

One of many things that are synonymous with the Lake District is dry stone walling. It is almost everywhere you look. From farms on the valley floors to some of the highest fells, we see these magnificent walls stretching for miles across the wide open expanses. Little Langdale is no different from any other valley when it comes to field boundaries. They define where one plot of land ends and another begins, and they're handy at keeping sheep where they're supposed to be...most of the time. They are like works of art, the lichen-encrusted stone intricately inter-connected with painstaking craftsmanship. Many built hundreds of years ago, the remnants of some walls built even further beyond in history. Visually, they draw you in and make for perfect subjects in photography. The best things is finding that one perfect wall.
