Template documentation

This template is used for linking to Wikipedia articles when you want to change the name of the article as it appears in your text. If you want to keep the link name the same as the Wikipedia article you can do so by using Template:W1 and typing, for example, the following: {{w1|Derwentwater}}.

If you want different text to the Wikipedia article title then this template is what you you need.

An example of this would be the Wikipedia article called Buttermere, Cumbria (Village). You would type {{w1|Buttermere, Cumbria (village)}} using Template:W1. But, if you wanted the link without the "(village)" suffix, you will have to use this template (Template:W2) and type it like so: {{w2|Buttermere, Cumbria (Village)|Buttermere}}.

In most cases using Template:W1 will suffice but that all depends on what you include in your text.

The above documentation is transcluded from Template:W2/doc.
