Template documentation

There are two templates that serve a similar purpose: this template {{coords with map}} and {{coords with image}}. They can be used anywhere but they are probably best used for pages with limited information and category pages. The main difference is that this template requires the latitude and longitude coordinates to populate the coordinates link and the map, whereas the other template includes an image parameter to show an image instead of a map.

Usage

Copy and paste the following syntax and fill out accordingly.

{{coords with image
 |latitude =
 |longitude =
 |zoom =
 |os grid =
 |w3w =
 |caption =
}}

Definitions

  • latitude and longitude: Should be in decimal degrees, i.e., 54.587016 and -3.1381819
  • zoom: level works well at about 14.
  • os grid: Use between 4 and 10-digit numbers for 1km to 1m accuracy. This parameter has a category link built in. If the category already exists, the link will be blue. If it does not, the link will be red.
    • NY2621 (4-digit without spaces – accurate to 1km)
    • NY 265 219 (6-digit with space – accurate to 100m)
    • NY 2654 2190 (8-digit with spaces – accurate to 10m)
    • NY 26547 21904 (10-digit with spaces – accurate to 1m)
  • w3w: This is the what3words link. The hyperlink is built in so just include the three words with full stops between, i.e., grandest.ambitions.flipper
  • caption: The map caption should you choose to include one - links can be included
