At the southern end of Derwentwater the visitor will find themselves near Grange in Borrowdale. At the time this photo was taken, the weather was just perfect and we were lucky to time it right with a group of goslings as they meandered on by.
From the B5289 there is a gravel path that heads west towards the River Derwent foot bridge. This effectively marks the half-way point on the 10 mile circular route around the lake. This is great place to spend a few minutes rest, maybe have picnic and chill, taking in the fine views on offer in every direction.
This is quite an exposed site so in less clement weather, the wind and the cold can be more severe.
