From the lakeside around Derwentwater, this view takes in the boathouse situated on Derwent Isle. The island itself is owned by the National Trust. Within its seven-acre land hides Derwent Isle House, a Grade II listed, 18th century property that is privately leased.
At this point, Lake Road comes to an end and the lakeside path begins. There are fine views of Derwent Isle here at various sections along the path, some of which can be obtained by going to the water's edge through the gaps in the trees. From this point the path starts to rise until you get to the well-known and beautiful viewing spot of Friar's Crag where exceptional views of Derwentwater and the surrounding can be seen.
