There are a variety of different tarns throughout the uplands and lowlands of the Lake District. They all have distinctive geological features that set them apart from one another. There are too many to include in this project, mainly because there are large numbers of unnamed, small, and insignificant bodies of water across this broad landscape. This category is one part of a large and ongoing project (and remains a work-in-progress), with the aim of including as many tarns as possible across Lakeland that fit into these different category types.
