Want to upload a file to The English Lakes?
To upload a file to The English Lakes:
  • Choose the source file. Other file extensions are also permitted. Whenever possible upload the image with the highest possible resolution.
  • Edit the destination filename below. Use a descriptive and concise filename, e.g. Sunset over Windermere.jpg instead of IMG_0086273.jpg. You will not be able to change the filename once you've uploaded the file unless you move the page.

Then fill in the following variables in the form:

  • Description: Write a descriptive and concise caption.
  • Source: The URL where you found the file, or write "own work" if it is your own creation.
  • Date: The creation date, or publication date if creation date is unknown.
  • Author: The names(s) of the author(s).
  • Permission: Select the appropriate licence from the menu, or write the copyright tag in this field. Why should I include this?
  • other_versions (optional): If the file is a modified or composed version of other file(s) you may show them here. For example, in a <gallery> … </gallery> with one filename per line.

Please organise your files after uploading using appropriate categories.

Please note that the file you upload must abide by British copyright law, repeated failure to do so will result in copyright violations and may lead to wiki closure. Fair use as such does not exist in the British system, it is instead replaced by a similar but stricter fair dealing system.

Please add one of the licences from the drop-down list you wish to include your image under.
If you do not provide suitable licence and source information, your upload will be deleted after one week. Thank you for your understanding.
