This view, looking north-west towards Keswick and Portinscale, is taken from the path when it runs parallel with the B5289 for a short while. Here the path rises and narrows a little. It is by no means technical but having the road only a few metres away means those who do not wish to walk this section, which is about ⅓ of a mile, can use the B5289 footpath instead.
Where the trees thin out, there are views offered across the lake. The noise from the road is much louder here when the traffic is heavier. The end of this section will bring you out at the Ashness Gate landing stage for the ferry should anyone wish to continue their journey cross-lake.
There is shingle beach here and a nearby car park. It can get busy during the summer months at this particular spot.
