The next nearest parking is provided by the National Trust at [[Ashness Bridge]], and at [[Great Wood]], a 10 and 15 minute walk away respectively, in opposite directions.
The shoreline here is shingle/gravel, and suited for picnics and various water activities.
Nearby Ashness Bridge is one of several highly photographed packhorse bridges in the Lake District (another popular one is [[Slater's Bridge]] in [[Little Langdale]]). It is the perfect place to stop, rest, and listen to the water of Barrow Beck as it cascades over the rocks and under the bridge towards Derwentwater.
